Where Klein Curaçao Boats Actually Leave From
Four operators, four marinas, and none of them in the city.
Most visitors to Curaçao sleep in or near Willemstad. No boat to Klein Curaçao leaves from Willemstad.
That sentence is the entire reason this page exists. There is no central ferry terminal and no departure from the Handelskade or the Queen Emma Bridge — the four operators run from four separate marinas spread along the Spanish Water and Jan Thiel side of the island, and the difference between them is twenty minutes of taxi at half past six in the morning.
Where each boat actually leaves from
Mermaid — the Fishermen’s Pier, Caracasbaaiweg, Jan Thiel. Boarding from 06:45, every day except Saturday. This is the Caracas Bay side, past Jan Thiel beach.
Irie Tours — The Village Marina & Apartments, Caracasbaaiweg at the Jan Thiel roundabout. Close to Mermaid’s pier, at the junction rather than out on the point.
Miss Ann — Marina Santa Barbara, on the Santa Barbara Beach side of Spanish Water. Check-in opens 30 minutes before departure. This is the furthest of the four from the city.
Gold Seahorse (All Boat Charters) — Kima Kalki Marina, Brakkeput Ariba 62, tucked inside the sheltered Spanish Water inlet.
From central Willemstad, all four are roughly 20 to 25 minutes by road. From Jan Thiel or Mambo Beach, Mermaid and Irie are a five-minute drive and the other two are ten to fifteen.
The one operator that will collect you
Irie Tours is the only one of the four including transport. Pickup inside the Jan Thiel area is free, and round-trip transfers from elsewhere cost $15 per person.
That is worth more than the number suggests. A taxi from central Willemstad to Caracasbaaiweg before seven in the morning costs considerably more than $15 a head for two people, and — more importantly — it has to be arranged the previous evening. Irie is also the cheapest crossing at $140 and the only one with the open bar in the fare, which makes it the strongest choice for anyone without a hire car. Full breakdown.
The other three leave you to find your own way. That is not a criticism — it is how most day boats on Curaçao work — but it is a cost and a logistics job that does not appear in the headline price.
Getting there without a transfer
Taxi, booked the night before. Curaçao’s taxis are not metered in the way visitors expect; agree the fare when you book. Ask your hotel to arrange it rather than trying to find one at 06:15, because you will not.
Hire car. All four marinas have parking and the roads are quiet at that hour. If you already have a car, this is the simplest option by a distance — you are back at the marina by late afternoon and driving home in daylight.
Bus. Curaçao’s Konvoi buses run to Jan Thiel, but not at the hour these boats board. This is not a realistic route to a 06:45 departure.
Walking. Only if you are staying at Jan Thiel or Caracas Bay, where Mermaid and Irie are genuinely close. Nowhere in Willemstad is walkable to any of these marinas.
If you are on a cruise ship
Be careful with this one. Cruise ships dock at the Mega Pier or the Mathey Wharf in Willemstad, which is 20 to 25 minutes from every one of these marinas — and the trips run eight or nine hours from a 06:30 to 07:30 boarding.
Two problems follow. Most ships do not clear passengers ashore early enough to make the boarding, and the return time depends on the sea rather than a timetable, which is a risk against an all-aboard call you do not control. If your ship is in port overnight the maths may work; for a standard day call it usually does not. A half-day inshore boat trip fits a port day far better.
If you are staying elsewhere on the island
Jan Thiel and Mambo Beach — the best-placed bases on the island for this trip. Mermaid and Irie are within five minutes, and Irie will collect you from Jan Thiel free.
Willemstad (Punda, Otrobanda, Pietermaai) — 20 to 25 minutes to any of the four. Book a taxi the night before or take Irie’s $15 transfer.
Westpunt and the north-west — a long drive, potentially 45 minutes to an hour, before a 06:45 boarding. If you are staying out there, consider moving the Klein Curaçao day to a night you are closer, or hire a car for it.

If you are in Jan Thiel without a car: Irie Tours, for the free pickup and the lowest price.
If you are in Willemstad without a car: Irie Tours again, for the $15 transfer — or any of the others with a taxi arranged the night before.
If you have a hire car: the departure point stops mattering and you should choose on the boat instead. The four operators compared.

"Customer service of everyone at Miss Ann Boat trips was 5 star , 2 of the crew Elvis and Bruna were thoughtful and accommodating and always checking up on everyone asking if they needed drinks etc. The captain was also 5 star he was also working non-stop off the boat too and did the snorkel tour. You do get what you pay for with this tour. There is a lot of time on the island to relax, swim, walk around. The boat ride is rough on the way there and I would recommend medicine, but that was mother nature not the tours fault and they take very good care of you if you feel unwell."
"Really enjoyed this trip! Very organized, timely, kept the day flowing well with minimal hiccups. A couple of people got sick on the 1 hr ride over to Klein but we found the ride to be extremely relaxing with beautiful views of the sea. Most of the travelers seemed to be enjoying the ride. It was more like a ride over to the island and the island felt like more of the "experience". Compared to the other catamaran boats which take longer to get to the island and likely offer more of a boating "experience". However, I loved the fact that this trip had so much to offer once we got to the island. Their beach house had clean bathrooms, plenty of covered cabanas with beach chair seating for everyone, a bar with open drinks, great buffet bbq meals, a dive shop with equipment, an elevated beach cabana with masseuse for private massages, easy foot access to the light house and ship wreck (10 min walk), group snorkeling tour in the deep with dingy for backup support. Just book it!! 10 out of 10!"
"We had an amazing time in Klein Curaçao. The whole staff was wonderful and very nice to us and especially to our daughter, who got very scared on the way there with the big waves and the boat going up and down multiple times. Edison explained to her that it was normal and safe and was able to help calm her down. John was also amazing during the guided snorkeling. My daughter was able to feed a lot of fish and they got very close to us. Such an amazing experience. We wouldn’t buy the cocktail premium open bar because we thought it wasn’t worth it, although the smoothies were very good. It would have been better to buy the drinks separately. We had plenty of time to go to the lighthouse and abandoned ship and also explore the beach and snorkel on our own as well. They served breakfast about 30 mins after we got to the island and lunch at 12:30pm. If you get sick on the boat, suggest taking a dramamine since a lot of people got sick on our way to the island."

The staff was excellent. "My partner and I enjoyed the interesting sights and experience of Klein but wouldn’t say this is a “must-do” while in Curacao unless your trip is longer. We arrived at the marina around 7am, collected our reusable cups, enjoyed coffee while waiting for everyone to arrive, boarded the ship and set sail a little after 7:30 and arrived at the island by 9am. We disembarked in groups by dinghy and were set free to claim beach chairs and palm umbrellas. Breakfast was around 10 and lunch around 12, both were mediocre but it is a fully remote island after all. Would recommend walking to the light house and shipwrecks before it gets too hot! At the beach club area there were 2 porta potties and a shower. Smoothies and alcoholic drinks available after 12 (we went on a Tuesday). We started packing up around 3pm, took the dinghy back to the ship and set sail back to Curacao around 4pm. Rum punch was served and we knocked out after a day full of sun and snorkeling! Tip: lower deck disembarks 1st"
