People search for a Klein Curaçao powerboat for one reason, and it is almost never a love of fast boats. It is that they have read about the crossing and want to spend less time on it.

That is a reasonable thing to want, and it deserves a straight answer rather than a page that pretends a product exists because the search does. Here is what is genuinely available.

The honest position on scheduled powerboats

Curaçao has plenty of fast boats. They run the coast rather than the crossing, because a fifteen-mile open-water leg in a small planing hull is a different licence and a different risk profile.

What that buys you is a genuinely good half day with no open water in it at all:

• Snorkel cruise to the Tugboat Wreck — $100, four and a half hours through Spanish Water and along the south coast, two snorkel stops, open bar and a barbecue lunch.
• Sunset catamaran cruise — $75, two and a half hours in the late afternoon with the open bar included.
• Self-drive boat rental — around $269 for up to six people for three hours, if you would rather be at the helm.

You do not get Klein Curaçao on any of these. You do get a boat, a reef and your afternoon.

4. Is a faster crossing actually kinder?

This is the part worth thinking about before spending money to solve the wrong problem.

A fast planing hull crosses open water by skimming over it. In flat conditions that is smooth and quick. In a head sea — which is what the outward leg to Klein Curaçao mostly is — a planing hull slams: it launches off the back of one wave and lands on the next, producing short, hard impacts rather than long slow ones. Plenty of people find that harder on the stomach and considerably harder on the back than a heavy displacement vessel pushing through the same water at half the speed.
