This is the half-day alternative for anyone who wants a boat, a barbecue and good snorkelling without the open-water crossing to Klein Curaçao. The boat is a double-decker motorised catamaran and the route stays inshore: out through Spanish Water past the waterfront villas and the yachts, then along Curaçao's south coast.
The first stop is the Tugboat Wreck, one of the island's best-known snorkelling sites and one that sits shallow enough to read properly from the surface. The hull is coral-covered and the fish life around it is dense. The second stop is a shallow reef around the corner inside the national underwater park.
An open bar runs aboard — water, sodas, juice, rum, vodka, blue Curaçao, white and rosé wine and beer — and lunch is a barbecue of meat and chicken skewers, chorizo, salads and garlic bread, with vegetarian, vegan and pescatarian versions on request. Fruit, snorkel and mask are included.
